On June 22, 2026, the International Union of Railways (UIC) will dedicate an international webinar to the project that converts the historic ALn 668 railcars from diesel propulsion to Bio-LNG power, one of Italy’s most significant initiatives in the field of railway decarbonization.
The event will feature participation from FS Treni Turistici Italiani, Hitachi Rail, and Ecomotive Solutions, partners in the project that made it possible to transform these historic railway vehicles through the use of innovative technologies and low-emission fuels.
During the webinar, participants will present the results achieved in terms of environmental sustainability, emissions reduction, and the enhancement of existing railway heritage, highlighting the role that Bio-LNG can play in the sector’s energy-transition journey.
The initiative represents an important international recognition for a project that combines technological innovation, sustainable mobility, and the restoration of historic rolling stock, offering new opportunities for the use of alternative fuels in rail transport.
